Sack the Sachet

There is a new campaign launching this year to get rid of plastic sauce sachets – you know the ones, the little plastic sachets that are impossible to open that you get with your takeaway!

Excuse us Heinz, is this yours?!

How does this affect me?

One beach cleaner has picked up 132 of these plastic sauce sachets from the local beaches, that has quite an impact! When you go to the beach, you will quite often find these buried in the sand.

The sachets like those in the image above have little tear off tabs, as a result of that even more small plastic items are left behind on the beach. Of the 132 sachets found, 72 were actually these tabs.

What can I do?

Refuse!! Refuse to take plastic sachets that pollute our beaches. Ask your favourite takeaway providers to make the switch to plastic-free alternatives. This will result in fewer of these sachets making it to the ocean.
